Canada Artistic Swimming is currently seeking nominations for the position of Athlete Council Chair. This opportunity arises as current Athlete Chair, Olivia Zawadiuk’s successful three-year term is concluding this spring.
The Athlete Council Chair aims to represent and promote the views and interests of national team athletes and programs. This important role helps to ensure that the collective voice of athletes is heard, and contributes to CAS’s vision of becoming a leading nation in Artistic Swimming.
The elected Athlete Council Chair, must be a former Canadian National Team member (either 13-15, Junior, or Senior), and have retired within five years at the time of their election. In addition to serving as as the Committee Chair for the Athlete Council, the candidate also attend acts as council to the Canada Artistic Swimming Board of Directors for the duration of their three-year term.
The role of CAS Athlete Council Chair is critical as it provides a voice for athletes in the sport of artistic swimming in Canada. Please review the Terms of Reference for the role to determine if this opportunity is right for you.
All interested nominees should apply to [email protected] with a statement of interest and summary of qualifications. Submissions will be reviewed by the CAS Nominating Committee and the current Athlete Council Chair. Nominations close at midnight on March 27, 2023.
Once the Nominating Committee has reviewed the submissions and verified they are valid, the candidates will be announced to the CAS national team athletes. The candidates’ names and bios will be posted on the CAS website, and the voting will commence online over a one-week period in April 2023. The new Athlete Council Chair will be announced in June 2023.
