Deux minutes apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de leur programme technique, elles livraient toujours une incroyable performance. \u00ab Leur meilleure depuis longtemps \u00bb, a confirm\u00e9 leur entraineure Kasia Kulesza.<\/p>\n<p>Mais \u00e0 dix secondes de la fin, elles ont perdu leur synchronisation, et Lamothe n\u2019a pas pu r\u00e9aliser les \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9clar\u00e9s dans leur dernier hybride, ce qui a entrain\u00e9 la note de base tant redout\u00e9e, r\u00e9duisant leur degr\u00e9 de difficult\u00e9 (DD) de 41,1 \u00e0 29,3 et rel\u00e9guant le duo \u00e0 la 15e place apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9preuve technique.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab En mars, nous n\u2019aurions jamais pens\u00e9 pouvoir essayer un DD dans les quarante, et aujourd\u2019hui, nous avons jouer le tout pour le tout avec le deuxi\u00e8me DD le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9preuve \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Simoneau apr\u00e8s leur performance. \u00ab Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait juste pas notre jour. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Voil\u00e0 pourquoi, lorsque le duo a livr\u00e9 son meilleur programme libre jamais r\u00e9alis\u00e9, atteignant leur pleine difficult\u00e9 pour un score impressionnant de 290,9103 points \u2013 le troisi\u00e8me plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de la journ\u00e9e \u2013, cela t\u00e9moignait non seulement du lien sp\u00e9cial qu&rsquo;elles ont forg\u00e9 en si peu de temps, mais aussi de leur incroyable r\u00e9silience et force mentale.<\/p>\n<p>Ce ne fut pourtant pas chose facile. Alors que Lamothe s\u2019attendait \u00e0 pouvoir tourner la page sur les \u00e9v\u00e9nements de la veille, l\u2019ampleur du moment ne lui en a tout simplement pas laiss\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9, et elle est arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 la piscine encore boulevers\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00ab La d\u00e9faite d\u2019hier a fait plus mal que ce que j\u2019avais imagin\u00e9 \u00bb, a-t-elle ensuite avou\u00e9 les larmes aux yeux. \u00ab J\u2019ai eu de la chance. Jackie a tout de suite remarqu\u00e9 que quelque chose n\u2019allait pas, et elle m\u2019a encourag\u00e9e, pas seulement comme partenaire de duo, mais comme une grande s\u0153ur. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Au final, cette troisi\u00e8me place a permis au duo canadien de se hisser \u00e0 la 9e place du classement cumulatif avec un score total de 492,4270 points. La Chine a remport\u00e9 l\u2019or, compl\u00e9tant le doubl\u00e9 \u00e9quipe\/duo aux Jeux, tandis que les paires de Grande-Bretagne et des Pays-Bas ont compl\u00e9t\u00e9 le podium, chacune remportant la premi\u00e8re m\u00e9daille olympique de natation artistique pour leur pays.<\/p>\n<p>Pour Simoneau, l\u2019une des nageuses artistiques les plus accomplies de l\u2019histoire du Canada, le moment \u00e9tait doux-amer. Il y avait bien s\u00fbr de la fiert\u00e9 en elle-m\u00eame et en sa partenaire d\u2019avoir r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 rebondir, mais aussi des pens\u00e9es sur ce qui aurait pu arriver.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00ab Se remettre d\u2019une d\u00e9faite est difficile, mais Audrey et moi l\u2019avons fait ensemble. Cette troisi\u00e8me place est une sorte de confirmation que les objectifs que nous nous \u00e9tions fix\u00e9s \u00e9taient r\u00e9alistes. Lorsqu\u2019un athl\u00e8te revient, c\u2019est pour atteindre la plus haute marche du podium. Mais au-del\u00e0 de \u00e7a, il y a aussi le cheminement et le partage de mes connaissances. C\u2019est ce que j\u2019aime faire. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sachant qu\u2019elle ne participerait plus jamais aux Jeux olympiques, Simoneau a pris quelques instants suppl\u00e9mentaires pour saluer la foule apr\u00e8s l\u2019arr\u00eat de la musique, essayant de savourer le moment. Bien qu\u2019il soit encore difficile de mesurer l\u2019\u00e9tendue de l\u2019extraordinaire h\u00e9ritage qu\u2019elle laissera derri\u00e8re elle lorsqu\u2019elle prendra sa retraite, il est d\u00e9j\u00e0 certain que son exp\u00e9rience perdurera \u00e0 travers sa partenaire de duo et son avenir prometteur.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00ab Nager avec son idole vient avec une certaine pression \u00bb, a confirm\u00e9 Lamothe. \u00ab Mais cela vient aussi avec un savoir que personne d\u2019autre n\u2019aurait pu me donner. Pas une entraineur, pas une athl\u00e8te n\u2019aurait pu me donner tout le savoir et toute l\u2019exp\u00e9rience que j\u2019ai acquis cette ann\u00e9e avec Jackie.
