Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS) is pleased to announce that WINNIPEG, MB, and MONTREAL, QC, have been selected to host the four events on the national calendar in 2024.
The 2024 National Qualifier will be held at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg on March 11-16, 2024. Hosted in partnership with Manitoba Artistic Swimming and local clubs, the event is scheduled to welcome over 450 athletes in the youth (13-15), junior and senior age groups from across Canada who will be competing for spots in the Canadian Championships to be held later in May.
“Manitoba Artistic Swimming is so pleased to host the 2024 National Qualifier in Winnipeg,” said Lisa Ferguson, Manitoba Artistic Swimming President. “Holding the competition in Manitoba provides a unique opportunity for our athletes to compete at home in front of friends and family, and provide exposure of our sport at the National level. The Qualifier in Manitoba will be a unique opportunity to showcase our sport and further the growth and development in the province.”
CAS is also very proud to confirm that it will continue its partnership with the Canadian University Artistic Swimming League (CUASL) and will be hosting the 2024 CUASL Canadian Championships at the same venue on March 15-17. In 2023, over 230 athletes took part in the event hosted for the first time in partnership by CAS and the CUASL.
This will mark the return of a national event at the Pan Am Pool for the first time since 2016 when the Canadian Espoir Championships were held in Winnipeg. The venue, which boasts a 75-meter pool, hosted the 1967 and 1999 Pan Am Games.
Montreal to host first National Championships in over 14 years
Montreal, QC, will be the host city for the 2024 Canadian Championships and 2024 Canadian Masters Championships.
The event will take place at the Centre Sportif Claude Robillard, on May 6-12, 2024. Following the success of the 2022 and 2023 editions in Quebec City and Calgary, the combined event will once again not only feature athletes from the Youth (13-15), Junior (15-19) and Senior age groups, but will also welcome the Canadian Masters community who will join them on the last weekend to compete on May 11-13. In total, more than 600 artistic swimmers from across the country are expected to compete for the national titles in the solo, duet, mixed duet, team, free combination and acrobatic routine events.
Hosted by Canada Artistic Swimming in partnership with Natation Artistique Quebec (NAQ) and the Montreal Synchro artistic swimming club, the event will mark the return of the artistic swimming national championships in Montreal for the first time since the 2010 Espoir Canadian Championships were held on the island, also at the Claude Robillard Centre.
“We are very proud to welcome athletes from all over the country to Montreal for these two major competitions,” stated NAQ co-Executive Director Valérie Savard. “Welcoming the best athletes in the country, from the youth category to the masters category, including juniors and seniors, is a privilege that we are looking forward to sharing with the metropolitan community.”
The event will mark the end of the 2024 domestic competition season.
“We’re very excited about our slate of events and host cities for 2024,” said Stéphane Côté, Chief Officer – Business Development at CAS. “We’d like to thank our hosting partners for their collaboration and parternship, as well as Tourism Winnipeg and Tourisme Montréal for their ongoing support.”
More information about the events will be available on the CAS website in the weeks to come.
