Claudia Janvier wins gold in 13-15 solo at 2018 UANA Pan American Championships

Claudia Janvier, from Pointe-Claire, QC, won the gold medal in the 13-15 solo event at the UANA Pan American Artistic Swimming Championships being held at the Riverside Aquatic Complex in California.

First after yesterday’s routine event, Claudia sealed her gold medal with a 10th position in today’s figures competition that gave her a combined score of 146.3333. Cailyn Wallace, the second Canadian entry representing the province of Ontario, finished with the second highest combined score.

13-15 Figures

Claire Scheffel, from Brantford, ON, came first in the figures event and led a strong Canadian performance that saw 8 team members come in the top 12, placing the squad in excellent position before Saturday’s team event. Bailey Hargreaves, from Saskatoon, and Kiana Sweet, from Calgary, rounded out the top 3.

Junior and Senior Duet Free Events

In the duet free events held later in the day, Emma Fox and Jade Warren (alternate Grace Ohrling), from Team Ontario, won bronze in the junior age group.  Andrée-Anne Côté and Claudia Holzner, from Dollard Synchro, captured silver in the senior event.

There are no 13-15 events on the schedule tomorrow, but the competition will continue for the Canadian delegation with the presentation of the Solo Free (junior/senior), Duet Tech (junior/senior) as well as the Free Combination events.
