Artistic Swimming continued to shine on the second day of competition at the 2025 Canada Summer Games, with athletes impressing in both the Duet Technical and Team Technical events in front of a packed and enthusiastic crowd.

The crowd was filled with family, friends, and fans as New Brunswick’s Cameron D’Arcy and Kayla Leavitt kicked off the duet technical event. Quebec’s Lily Bernier and Andrea Escobar once again topped the standings, finishing first with 263.6350 points. Both athletes were thrilled with their performance, noting how much fun they have and how strongly they connect when performing together. The pair had already taken the lead in Tuesday’s solo technical event and continue to impress.

Alberta’s Jasmine Peloquin and Kyla Williams claimed second with 247.9325 points, followed by Quebec’s Ariane Harvey and Coralie Pelletier in third with 239.0425 points. New Brunswick twins Taylor and Madison Buchanan also stood out, smiling ear-to-ear as they shared the moment together in front of friends and family.

“She’s my best friend so it’s not only fun, but I’m swimming with someone I love, and doing the sport I love, so it’s amazing,” said Taylor Buchanan.

With the duet technical event complete, attention shifted to the Team Technical routines. Quebec quickly climbed to the top again, scoring 242.2117 points. Coralie Pelletier shared her pride, explaining that the team loves this routine and felt they truly delivered. Ontario followed in second with 236.2225 points, excited to see their long hours of training pay off.

“Right before we compete in team events we like to listen to Umbrella by Rihanna. The funny thing is the song that played right before us was Umbrella as well. So that was just extra motivation right before we got to swim,” said Ontario’s Lauren Irvine.

Alberta rounded out the podium in third with 230.6959 points, performing an energetic routine to a Pitbull remix.

“We’ve put in a lot of work in the past couple months, and we’ve really come together as a team, so I’m pretty happy with what we were able to show today,” said Makayla Lowdon.

The duet and team technical scores will be combined with the free routines later this week to determine medal standings. Competition continues on Thursday with the Solo Free preliminaries at 12:30 NDT and the Duet Free preliminaries at 16:00 NDT.
