Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS) is pleased to announce that Lise Maclean, MBA, CHRL, will serve as its arms-length, third-party Safe Sport Officer. She will work independently of the national sport organization and be a point of contact for those wishing to make a complaint under Canada Artistic Swimming’s Code of Conduct policy.
“Our ultimate goal is to ensure that all artistic swimmers train and compete in safe, respectful and inclusive environments and that our organization complies with all legislation and government mandates around the provision of safe sport for everyone involved,” said Jackie Buckingham, CEO, Canada Artistic Swimming. “While we continually strive to educate our athletes, coaches, officials, clubs and parents on appropriate behaviour, we also recognize that we need a supportive, comfortable process for anyone who may wish to lodge a complaint. Having a skilled Safe Sport Officer to guide people through the experience is one more step to ensure our sport is free from any abuse, harassment, bullying or discrimination.”
A Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with nearly twenty years of experience as a human resources consultant, manager and executive in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors, Lise Maclean has led multiple investigations in workplace settings and provided training on respectful workplaces. She is a certified Workplace Investigator and is currently a member of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada Investigation Unit and the HRPA Discipline Committee. She has served Swimming Canada as its Human Resources Advisor and Harassment Officer since 2013, and was recently also appointed by Water Polo Canada as its independent Safe Sport Officer.
