CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – 2017/2018 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In preparation for the Canada Artistic Swimming Annual Meeting scheduled for September 16, 2017, the Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for election to its Board of Directors. There are 3 two-year Board positions available.

The committee is looking for people with a variety of skills and backgrounds, in particular those outlined in the attached Board of Directors skills and competencies document. Knowledge of the structures of Sport Governing Bodies and their statutory oversight would be an asset. Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector and demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of Canada Artistic Swimming’s stakeholders and members. Board Members will have strong diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals, along with personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Canada Artistic Swimming’s participants.

Canada Artistic Swimming Board Members meet in person approximately two times per year on weekends (typically Fall, and during the Canada Artistic Swimming National Open Championships in May) and at other times via conference call throughout the year (approximately once per month). Board Members can also serve as liaisons to Canada Artistic Swimming Standing Committees and Working Groups and as such, provide leadership and guidance to these Committees on an ongoing basis.

Directors and Officers must fulfill all requirements of the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act and the Canada Revenue Agency’s requirements for Board Members of Registered Charities.

If you would like to be a part of a Board of Directors that is passionate about sport, the Nominating Committee encourages you to submit your interest in filling a Board position.

Further information required for submitting an application can be found by contacting Canada Artistic Swimming CEO at: [email protected]

Candidates may wish to speak to a member of the Nominating/Governance committee prior to submitting an application.
