Canada Artistic Swimming is proud to announce the coaching staff that will be leading the 2020 Junior National Team, slated to take part in the 17th FINA Junior World Championships  on August 24-30.

Karine Doré, from Montréal, QC, has been named the team’s Head Coach. Currently Head Coach of the Montreal Synchro club and assistant coach of the senior national team, Karine brings over thirty years of diverse experience as a coach, choreographer and artistic swimming athlete to her new position. A member of Synchro Québec’s Hall of Fame, she is an NCCP Level 5 certified coach, and is known for achieving great results as a dedicated, passionate, creative coach. She worked with the national team previously preparing for major events, world championships and Olympic Games. She has also regularly conducted annual training camps for athletes from across Canada.

The assistant coaches will be Yingli Hou and Nathalie Lagrange.

Yingli, who is currently a coach at the Waterloo Region Artistic Swimming Club, competed for China at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. She has been working as a coach in Canada for over 14 years, in which time she led athletes to multiple podium finishes on the national scene. She has been a coach at the National Junior Development Camps in 2017 and 2019, as well as an Apprentice Coach at the 2018 summer preparation camps for the National Junior and 13-15 Programs. More recently, she was Head Coach of the Ontario team at the 2019 Canada Games. Yingli is NCCP Competition Development certified and has completed her Advance Coaching Diploma.

With more than 30 years of experience, Nathalie Lagrange achieved the highest level of NCCP coaching certification in Canada, Level 5, in 2016. In 2019 she was awarded Development Coach of the year at the 34th Soirée des Lauréats montréalais. She has an extensive coaching background and is currently a coach at Montréal Synchro. She has been a head and assistant coach with several national 13-15 teams, and head coach of multiple Québec’s provincial teams, including in 2019 at the Canada Games. She led the Montreal Synchro Team to a first place finish in the Combo event at the 2019 Canada Open FINA World Series event.

“We’re very fortunate to have many outstanding coaches in this country who have the desire and the experience to lead our junior team for such an important event,” stated Julie Healy, Canada Artistic Swimming’s Chief Sport Officer. “We’re confident that this coaching group, who brings a wide array of experience in both the technical and artistic aspects of the sport, will create the best environment possible for our athletes to succeed both individually and as a team.”

The nominated coaches will be leading two regional camps that will be taking place in February: the West Regional Camp, in Saskatoon, SK, on Feb 13-16 and the East Regional Camp, in Quebec City, QC, on Feb 27 – Mar 1.
