Synchro Canada is pleased to announce the addition of Leslie Sproule to the Centre of Excellence team, based in Montreal, as the Head Coach of the 2017 World Championships team.  A member of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Leslie brings over 35 years of coaching experience to the senior National Team including three Olympic Games and numerous World, Pan Am and major FINA event appearances as a coach.

“Leslie has a unique ability to help a team focus on the task at hand and prepare to reach their full potential.” commented Sheilagh Croxon, High Performance Consultant for Synchro Canada. “She builds confidence in the athletes and the entire delegation. We are extremely fortunate that Leslie is able to assume this important role in our final preparations for Budapest.”

Synchro Canada Chief Sport Officer Julie Healy agreed. “Leslie’s well rounded background in all aspects of the sport, combined with her extensive international experience will give the team a boost as it enters the home stretch in preparing for the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary in mid-July.”

Leslie previously held positions at Synchro Canada as High Performance Director (2002-2004) and served in Canadian National Team Head Coach and Assistant Coach roles for fourteen years at the Junior, Next Gen and Senior A team levels.  Leslie joins the existing coaching and Integrated support team staff including Assistant Coach Miho Yoshida and will commence working with the team at the Centre of Excellence on June 3.

Centre of Excellence National Team Head Coach Meng Chen is on leave for personal reasons and has stepped away from coaching.
