Ottawa, December 11, 2014 – Synchro Canada will send a team of 11 athletes to the 2014 FINA World Trophy which is being held December 13-14 in Beijing, China.

This is the 9th edition of the FINA World Trophy, the most spectacular competition in the synchronized swimming international calendar. The innovative competition formula features a Highlight routine, a Thematic Duet, a Thematic Team and a Free Combination.  Athletes will be allowed to use original costumes and accessories and some rules are relaxed to allow for increased engagement of the audience.

“This event is very exciting for us as competitors because it truly allows us to express ourselves”, stated Karine Thomas.

The athletes competing at the event are:

Meng Chen and Lilianne Grenier are the team coaches.  Lisa Schott, president of Aquatics Canada and FINA Technical Synchronized Swimming Committee, as well as physiotherapist Katie Smith and Synchro Canada’s High Performance manager Isabelle Lecompte are also part of the delegation.

Canada will be presenting its silver-medal winning Highlight routine from the 2014 World Cup in Quebec City as well as imaginative Thematic Team and Combo routines.  Jacqueline Simoneau and Karine Thomas will be performing an extremely clever and dynamic thematic duet and Simoneau will also be participating in the Solo exhibition presented on Saturday.
