Dr. Margo Mountjoy lost her bid for Vice President of the Americas yesterday at an election held in Toronto as part of the UANA Congress.
Dr. Mountjoy mounted a well organized campaign based on a platform of change and development in the UANA nations but lost to incumbent USA candidate Dale Neuberger. Neuberger has been the VP of the Americas for the past 15 years.
Dr. Mountjoy spoke briefly to the delegates following the announcement of the results: “I waged an ethical and transparent campaign – the democratic process must be respected”. “It is important to move forward now and continue the collaboration and focus on progress at the UANA executive level”.
Dr. Mountjoy will continue in her newly appointed role as Vice President of UANA and with her important and outstanding work on the FINA Bureau, the IOC Medical Commission Games Group, as well as with WADA and the new FINA “Swim For All” program.
