Calgary’s Halle Pratt won the junior figures event today at the 2016 Canadian Qualifier Championships held in the Desjardins Aquatic Centre at Université Laval’s PEPS.

The athlete from the Calgary Aquabelles, who was the national champion in this technical event in 2015, received a score of 76.541 to capture first place.  Emily Armstrong, from the Regional Training Centre – Ontario (RTC-Ontario) followed with 75.887 and Andrée-Anne Côté, from the host club Quebec Excellence Synchro, was third with 75.625.  More than 170 athletes competed in the event.

Senior Solo Free
Ioana Gheta, from Synchro Laval, delivered a powerful rendition of her free solo to capture gold with a score of 77.5333.  Brooke Brimo, from Montreal Synchro, won her second medal of the competition – silver this time after yesterday’s gold – with 74.6667 while Gabrielle Cadotte, also from Montreal Synchro, completed the podium with 73.1333.

13-15 Team Preliminaries
The day concluded with the presentation of the 13-15 team preliminary round in which the Calgary Aquabelles took the lead with a score of 75.7667, ahead of Montreal Synchro at 73.5667 and Granite Synchro, from Toronto, with 71,5667.  The finals will be presented on Saturday afternoon.
