Halle Pratt, from the Calgary Aquabelles, took first place in the technical figures event today on the opening day of the Shiseido Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships held at Talisman Centre in Calgary.
She was awarded a combined score of 78.2540 for her 4 figures, while Andrée-Anne Côté from Québec Excellence Synchro came second with 77.0870. Emily Armstrong followed at 76.0330 and, as a Regional Training Centre – Ontario entry, shares her third position with Calgary Aquabelles club member Cassandra Winkelaar, who had 75.1710.
Figures scores are all-important in junior competitions as they are added to all routine marks and count for 50% of the final scores.
Junior Solo Preliminaries
The same athletes earned the top positions in the junior solo preliminaries, with Pratt, last year’s champion in the event, leading the way with a combined score of 159.5873. Côté was awarded the top mark for her routine and is second with 158,8537, while Armstrong follows at 156.2330, sharing once more the third position with Winkelaar who finished with 150.9710.
Senior Solo Technical
In the senior solo technical event, Brooke Brimo, from Montréal Synchro, took home the gold with a score of 72.2331, edging Breanne Law, from the Aquabelles with 71.8317. Kenzie Pridell, from Regina Synchro, won bronze with 70.5912.
Competition continues tomorrow and until Saturday. Tickets are available at the door, for $12 per day or $30 for an all-event package.
