2015_espoirSaint John, January 22, 2014 – The city of Saint John, New Brunswick, will be the host of Synchro Canada’s 2015 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Espoir Championships. The event, held by Synchro NB and Surf City Synchro club, under the leadership of Synchro Canada, and will be held at the beginning of June 2015 at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

Synchro Canada’s National competition circuit will then be back in New Brunswick for the first time since the Canadian Espoir Championships held in May 2007 at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John.

In 2013, the Canadian Espoir Championships, held in Ottawa, ON, presented 274 athletes from 29 clubs across the country along with the coaches and judges. The event also had an international flavour with representatives from Mexico.

“Synchro Canada is very pleased to be back in New Brunswick for the presentation of the 2015 Canadian Espoir Championships”, said Synchro Canada’s president, Mario Welsh. “I would first like to thank Synchro NB, the Surf City Synchro club, the host organizing committee and all the volunteers who will be involved and who will oversee the presentation of this competition. It will be a golden opportunity to see the rising stars, those who will represent our country in a few years in major international competitions, including the Olympic Games.”

“Synchro New Brunswick and Surf City Synchro Club are looking forward to hosting the 2015 Canadian Espoir Championships in Saint John”, said Synchro NB Executive Director, Ann Phillips. “We sincerely hope that everyone who will attend those championships will go away with pleasant memories of a great competition with great volunteers who met all of their needs.”

Toward the National Team

Athletes in the 13-15 age group category will attempt to qualify for Synchro Canada’s 13-15 National Team, and will participate in a competition named later. The selection of the 13-15 National Team will take place during and following the Canadian Espoir Championships.
