Strong Canadian leadership presence at 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention and FINA Congress

Ottawa, November 25, 2014 – From November 29 to December 1, 2014, the global Aquatics family and business leaders will meet in Doha, Qatar, for the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention. The Convention aims to both inspire continued success for Aquatics and to highlight key elements that can lead to continued growth and major breakthroughs for the future.

This year’s Convention theme is “Aquatics – Engaging for success” with discussions arising from both inside and outside of the sport, helping the Aquatics family to reflect on the most successful areas from past achievements, as well as to find inspiration for the future from external sources.

Two canadian leaders in the field of aquatics and synchronized swimming have been invited to give presentations at the convention, further establishing Canada’s leadership role in Aquatics at the highest international levels.

Lisa Schott, Aquatics Canada president and former Synchro Canada president, will be giving a presentation on the future of Synchronized Swimming in her role as a TSSC member at the Aquatics Conference.

Dr Margo Mountjoy, who is a FINA Bureau Member in the role of Chief Medical Advisor, will be presenting at the FINA Swimming Coaches Golden Clinic on the subject of FINA-Yakult Nutrition. Dr Mountjoy is a retired international level synchronized swimmer and past team physician for Synchro Canada.

In addition, Mrs Schott and Dr Mountjoy will be leading the Canadian delegation in the rule revisions and other business at the FINA Congress.
