Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that the city of Windsor, Ontario, will host the 2018 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championships on April 24-28, 2018. More than 225 athletes and 100 coaches and officials are expected to converge on the city to take part in the five-day event. The athletes will come from across Canada to compete in the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC).

Hosted by Waterloo Synchro in collaboration with Synchro Canada and Synchro Swim Ontario, the Canadian Championships is the last competition on the national calendar for athletes in the junior (15-18) and senior age groups who will be vying for titles in over 18 events.

“Windsor continues to be the destination of choice for many sporting events and we are excited to welcome the 2018 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championship,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “Not only will participants compete in our state-of-the-art Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre but they will get the opportunity to discover all that Windsor has to offer – our first class dining, accommodations, shopping, entertainment and our warm Windsor hospitality.”

“Synchro Canada is excited to partner with the City of Windsor, our Synchro Swim Ontario colleagues and experienced volunteers from the Waterloo Region to host the 2018 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championships at the International Aquatic and Training Centre,” stated Synchro Canada CEO Jackie Buckingham.  This is the first time Synchro Canada has held a national event in Windsor and we look forward to creating a memorable week-long competition in April and leaving a legacy of synchronized swimming behind in the community.

“Windsor has all the elements that we look for in hosting an event of this size, including fabulous facilities and great accommodations, added Stéphane Côté, Director of Events and Communications at Synchro Canada. “We’re confident that competitors from across the country will be excited to experience Windsor for a first time.”

The 2018 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championships will feature Canada’s best Junior and Senior athletes.  The Synchro Canada Open international event location will be announced shortly.

The Championships will be webcast in Canada and around the world through live streaming on digital platforms.

This event has previously been held in Québec City (2009 & 2013), Charlottetown (2010), Calgary (2011 & 2016), Victoria (2012), Saskatoon (2014) and Toronto (2015 & 2017).
