Flynne Gossling, from Victoria Synchro, won the 13-15 figures event today on the opening day of the 2016 Canadian Qualifier Championships at the Desjardins Aquatic Centre at Université Laval’s PEPS.
The athlete from the Victoria, BC, club received a cumulative mark of 70.644 for her 4 figures, just in front of Teah Hoffman from the Calgary Aquabelles with 70.480 and Olivia Jensen-Large, from the Regional Training Centre – Ontario (RTC-Ontario) with 70.467. Since RTC-Ontario has a special status that only allows it to receive duplicate awards, Eva Blainey, from Granite Synchro, also came in third position with a score of 69.9630. More than 250 synchronized swimmers from all over Canada took part in the event.
Senior Solo Technical
In the senior solo technical event, Brooke Brimo, from Montréal Synchro, took home the gold with a score of 72.474, closely edging Breanne Law, from the Aquabelles with 72.279. Kenzie Pridell, from Regina Synchro, won bronze with 70.287.
Senior Team Technical
In the senior team technical event, host club Quebec Excellence Synchro delivered a solid performance for a score of 68.015 and the gold medal.
Junior Team Preliminaries
In the junior teams preliminary round, RTC-Ontario took the lead with a score of 78.000, ahead of the Calgary Aquabelles et 77.700 and Montreal Synchro with 76,8667. Québec Excellence Synchro follows closely in fourth spot, with 76,600. The finals will be the closing event of the competition on Saturday evening.
Competition continues tomorrow and until Saturday. Tickets are available at the PEPS ticket office, for $12 per day or $32 for an all-event package.
