Jenn Tregale & Lilianne Grenier named Head Coaches of 2015 Junior and 13-15 National Teams

Ottawa, March 17, 2015 – Synchro Canada is pleased to announce the Head Coach nominations for its 2015 Junior and 13-15 National Teams.

2015 Junior National Team

Jenn Tregale of Calgary has been named Head Coach of Synchro Canada’s 2015 Junior National Team that will represent the country at the 2015 UANA Pan American Championships, August 16-22, 2015, in Calgary, AB.

Tregale, Head Coach of the Calgary Aquabelles since 2004, was the Head Coach of Synchro Canada’s 2011, 2012 and 2014 Junior National Teams. Team Canada won a bronze medal in the solo event at the 2012 FINA World Junior Championships and finished in 5th place in the combo event, while placing 6th at last year’s Junior Worlds in Helsinki, Finland.

She was also one of Synchro Canada’s 2010 Junior National Team assistant coaches for the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships Team where Canada won three bronze medals. She has more than 25 years coaching experience in the sport and is currently completing her level 4 NCCP certification. She was the Junior National Team head coach at the Pan Am Junior Championships in 2009, the National B Team Head Coach at the 2008 Swiss Open as well as an assistant coach with the National Junior Team at the 2007 U.S. Open Championships. Jenn Tregale participated as an apprentice coach at the FINA World Junior Championships in 1993 as well as the Commonwealth Games and FINA World Aquatic Championships in 1994.

“I am extremely honoured to be selected as the Head Coach of the Junior Team for 2015, and I would like to thank Synchro Canada for this fantastic opportunity”, stated Tregale. “It will be very exciting for all of us to compete in our own country in Calgary in August. I look forward to working with the top swimmers in the country and prepare them for this summer’s competition. Canada has such great depth in this area, I’m confident it will be a wonderful experience for everyone involved”. Synchro Canada’s 2015 Junior National Team athlete pool will be selected following the 2015 Canadian Open Championships, which will be held April 28-May 3, in Toronto, ON.

2015 13-15 National Team

Lilianne Grenier of Montreal will be the Head Coach of the 13-15 National Team.

Lilianne Grenier, also Synchro Canada’s National Development Manager, has 14 years experience as a synchronized swimmer and 15 as a coach. Last year she coached Canada’s 13-15 National Team to a 5th place finish at the 2014 Mediterranean Cup in Alexandropouli, Greece. In 2013, she had lead Canada’s Junior National Team to a silver medal at the UANA Age Group Championships in Puerto Rico while in 2012 she was on Synchro Canada’s national B team coaching staff. She also managed and coached national and provincial teams in Colombia including the Junior National Team. She was also an apprentice coach with Synchro Canada’s 13-15 National Team in 2007. She has a Bachelor’s degree in physical education and kinesiology and is currently doing her NCCP Level 4 Coaching Certification.

“I’m truly excited to be given the opportunity to coach the 13-15 National Team for the second year in a row”, said Grenier. “There is a tremendous amount of talent in this age group in Canada and I’m looking forward to help these young athletes maximize their potential”.

The 13-15 National Team will be selected following the Canadian Espoir Championships on May 26-31, 2015, in Saint John, NB.
