Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that Québec City, QC, will present the 2017 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Qualifier Championships on March 21-26, 2017, at the Desjardins Aquatic Centre in University Laval’s PEPS.
Hosted by Quebec Excellence Synchro in collaboration with Synchro Quebec and Synchro Canada, the Canadian Qualifier Championships is the largest competition on the national calendar and features swimmers from the 13-15, junior (16-18) and senior age groups. At stake in this competition are berths to participate in the year-end National Championships for each age group.
The 2016 Canadian Qualifier Championships, also held in Quebec City, welcomed more than 440 athletes from 41 clubs and 9 provinces across Canada, as well as more than 150 officials and coaches.
Made possible in part by Quebec City’s commitment to helping local organizations to host high-calibre sporting events, the Qualifier will return to PEPS for a second consecutive year after a 2016 edition that saw many significant improvements in the quality of the athlete, officials and spectator experiences, including real-time scoring updates and video display as well as instant-replay using the facility’s two state-of-the-art HD displays.
“Synchro Canada is very pleased to return to Quebec City and the PEPS facility at Laval University for the 2017 National Qualifier Championships” said Synchro Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, Jackie Buckingham. “The pool facilities at PEPS are truly world class and the Local Organizing Committee has proven its ability to deliver an amazing athlete experience. Quebec City is a beautiful and historic location – we know our synchronized swimmers enjoy the added cultural experience gained when they compete in this hospitable location.”
“Quebec Excellence Synchro is very excited to be hosting the Qualifier once again this year”, said Quebec Excellence Synchro president and 2016 Meet Manager, Jacques-Olivier Demers. “We look forward to welcoming athletes, coaches and officials from around Canada to our fantastic facility. This is a wonderful opportunity for our national athletes to compete at home, but also for swimmers from our whole club to both observe and be inspired by national-level competition.”
